STATEMENT OF ADVICE
Private and Confidential
Prepared for John Stevens on 3 April 2026. This document sets out our advice in relation to your financial position, goals and the recommendations we have agreed. Please read this document carefully and contact us if you have any questions.
1. Financial Position Overview
Portfolio: John's portfolio is currently valued at $1.1 million, representing a 7% increase YTD. It is well-diversified across equities (70%), fixed income (20%), and alternative investments (10%), aligning with his high-growth strategy and risk tolerance.
Cash Reserves: His readily accessible cash reserves are currently $40,000, which is below the recommended 3-6 months of living expenses (estimated at $60,000 - $80,000). We recommend increasing cash reserves to at least $60,000 before the end of the year to provide an adequate buffer against unexpected expenses.
Insurance: John currently holds life insurance cover of $500,000. Income protection insurance is not in place. Given his salary of $145,000 and single status, we recommend reviewing income protection options as a priority.
2. Goals and Objectives Review
Long-term growth: Achieve an average annual return of 8% on his investment portfolio over the next 10 years. Based on the current allocation and historical performance, this target remains achievable provided the portfolio is rebalanced quarterly and no significant withdrawals are made in the interim.
Sustainability: Incorporate ESG factors into his investment strategy, as discussed in the Annual Review on 2 April. We propose transitioning 30% of the equity allocation to ESG-screened funds over the next two quarters, starting with the Australian equities component.
3. Recommendations
Based on the above analysis, we recommend the following actions: (a) Increase cash reserves to $60,000 by redirecting distributions over the next 6 months. (b) Obtain quotes for income protection insurance with a 90-day waiting period and benefit to age 65. (c) Rebalance the portfolio to a 65/25/10 split by the end of Q3. (d) Begin transitioning to ESG-screened funds as outlined above.
